ArchCK & new Udev

I am aware of the issues with the new udev and ArchCK regarding CD/DVD drives, and am currently preparing a package which ought to rectify these.

ArchCK4 ought to be uploaded by the end of the night, and should hit your mirrors whenever they sync.

New package uploaded, changes:

Enabled ipw2200 monitor mode, sorry it took so long
Fixed udev stuff.

Also reccomended, but not required is the updated mkinitramfs package. It doesnt add anything new, except being cleaner, removes some of those harmless errors on boot and removes some more references to initrd.

Sorry to be a kill joy but STILL no CD/DVD working on my. When i boot into the Stock kernel i find hdd and hdc in /dev/ but this files are not created when i boot into Archck. How can i fix this?

Make sure you are running kernel26archck4 and mkinitramfs 1.2.

Please ensure that when you create a mkinitramfs, that a new initramfs is created, and the the path in your bootloader is to the correct one.

If you are running a self compiled kernel, please use the patches made available here:

I'm having an issue with 2.6.15.archck4-1 (well all archck versions since it started using initramfs) where it does not recognise my DVD burner.

Update to latest mkinitramfs, and rebuild your initramfs image. Ensure that the new initramfs is built by removing any old ones, and the correct one is referenced in your bootloader.

edit: Dibble, sorry, I forgot entirely about them! I'll find the patch and upload another update.

Hi Iph thanks for your help. Yeah i was still using an old initramfs. I didn't realise the name has chages. It works great now.

Upgrade to 4.2 archck gives kernel panic with /sbin/lilo OK.

Arch is OK:archck=kernel panic

EDIT: Pacman -R kernel26archck.....pacman -S kernel26archck..../sbin/lilo...

Back in business!!!!

Well yesterday afternoon I installed kernel26archck-2.6.15.archck4-2 and now my DVD drive works. I did not change anything else so I assume the issue I was having with earlier versions of archck have been fixed....

Anyway thanks iphitus for the great work on this kernel build.

Maybe I'm just having trouble reading the documentation or something, but I was wondering how you go about using mkinitramfs to create an image? I'm so used to it automatically generating on the kernel installation from Community.
