Re: bomi - A powerful and easy-to-use multimedia player!

Okay, although the VA-API error makes me nervous little bit, now it looks working, right? Thank you!

Re: bomi - A powerful and easy-to-use multimedia player!

@bobart Can you tell me a typical sample video which shows what-you-described-problem very well?
I've tried some animations but I couldn't noticed. Maybe they don't contains movings fast enough.

Hm.., I see it on almost any *.avi - and this blurring and confusion is present even at slow motion, while the VA-API looks quite good.
But I can throw a particular file on dropbox, if you want - try use vdpau-hwacc and, perhaps, you will see it?

Ok, please, wait.
No, i'm sorry, but movement in the screenshots (i use 'scrot') looks almost the same. The difference is visible only when playing.

Ok, perhaps, problem in qt5 updating)

UPD.
Yes, it helped without rebuilding, thanks!

PS. Updated qt5, and then i'm rebuilded cmplayer-git - all right, now it's works.

@xylosper
cmplayer-git 0.8.13.r103.g42fd6dd-1
- New problem: playback is frozen on 'play-next' action on *.mkv-file. But *.avi-file playback (if used 'play-next' action) occurs normally.

Just in case, freezing ('play-next') occurs on a file being played at the time of receipt:

Re: bomi - A powerful and easy-to-use multimedia player!

@bobart I can't reproduce your problem.
Usually, you don't have attche the backtrace unless you get segmentation fault or crash.
Please post the full log of cmplayer --debug .
Also, please check if it's specified for one series or for all MKVs.

Re: bomi - A powerful and easy-to-use multimedia player!

@xylosper
Yes, of course. But, i think, 'cmplayer --debug' does not show the real picture, because the output continues after transition, but the video freezes for a previous file.
That is, if you believe the conclusion (debug), play continues as if, but in fact it is frozen at the end of the previous file.
You understand me?

Please, look this:

@bobart
I still cannot find the reason. What does happen if you change current file through playlist, that is, double click other file in playlist?
Also, what does the playback information show when freezing? Can you take a screenshot of playback information and post it?

Double clicking on next file (or any) in playlist > playback well as frozen.

Also, what does the playback information show when freezing? Can you take a screenshot of playback information and post it?

'Tab-key' shows information about that "file_1x08" is playback, but, in reality, playback is frozen on end of "file _1x07".
Please:
s_1402003386_4689130_bc1c021a9d.png

Note: Playback will resume only if i "stop" playback (action-stop) and then on again "play" (action-play) - in this case current file will be play in reality, that is  "file_1x08".

That's interesting.... Your information shows that the playback is perfectly normal, but the scene is the last frame of previous video, right? Can't you get the sound, either?

Yes )

Sound is normal and corresponds playable file. Frozen only video, and it's frozen at the previous file.

Re: bomi - A powerful and easy-to-use multimedia player!

@xylosper
cmplayer-git 0.8.13.r132.gdb5bfea-1
cmplayer --log-level=trace

I'm sorry, but nothing has changed: sound goes, but, if you make a "next-step" - video freezes on the current file...
But at the same time, subtitles comply a new file in the playlist.

Note: Freezes only *.mkv, not *.avi

Does every mkv series show same problem? How about changing between different mkv series?

Re: bomi - A powerful and easy-to-use multimedia player!

@bobart
Those errors are harmless. FYI, they indicates those values aren't available from mpv but CMPlayer keeps those value internally, so no problem.

So, not only those series, but also other mkv container seires show same problem, right?
Did you try it without hwacc? Or with VDPAU not VA-API?
Oh, btw, I've got a report that motion problem of VDPAU has been fixed. Please update and try.

Yes, you are right. Yesterday i'm installed cmplayer (not a '-git') and happens to him is the same thing.

No, have not tried.

Re: bomi - A powerful and easy-to-use multimedia player!

@xylosper
Hello.
It seems that freezing problem is gone because of the restoration correctly work VDPAU.
Maybe problem was that i used hwacc not provided for my type of video card? I don't know, but now, on vdpau-hwacc goes through the list without any problems.

Thank you!

Re: bomi - A powerful and easy-to-use multimedia player!

@bobart Glad to hear that. Thanks a lot!
It was a CMPlayer issue related with VDPAU and VA-API mode was also affected because in your system, VA-API is implemented as a front-end of VDPAU.

Re: bomi - A powerful and easy-to-use multimedia player!

Glad to see you're still developing this xylosper, I've used nothing else than CMplayer for a while now even if i've been quiet here. It is hands down my favorite movie player on Linux, it's better quality than VLC, and easier to use/configure than K-Lite MPC which I use on Windows, it might just be the coolest movie player on the whole net smile don't you dare drop this project! I will cry!

Here are a few bugs I'm running into and feature requests (minor compared to what I've brought to you in the past).

Minor Bug: Information after pressing tab for audio does not display the correct format (i.e. I've configured alsa to force S32_LE but the media player only shows the same as source, I know the configuration is working though as if I set to S24_LE there will be no sound at all, here is the config)

Minor Bug: If you open a file with chapters, then skip to the next file that also has chapters, the chapter marks will stay the same as they were on the first file you opened.

Minor Qt Bug: I get spammed with the following in terminal output sometimes:

QXcbWindow: Unhandled client message: "_E_COMP_FLUSH"
QXcbWindow: Unhandled client message: "_E_COMP_DUMP"
QXcbWindow: Unhandled client message: "_E_COMP_FLUSH"
QXcbWindow: Unhandled client message: "_E_COMP_DUMP"

I think it is GUI related, a reliable way to reproduce it is to launch the player in terminal and opening the preferences menu. I also notice (may be related) that the OSC sometimes doesn't disappear as it should when it is not in use/mouse is inactive. A possible fix might be to use a Media Player Classic & VLC styled OSC that always show up when you move your mouse to the bottom of the screen and disappear when you move the mouse away instantly (i.e. if the mouse is not on top of it, the OSC is hidden).

Aesthetic/User-Friendliness: As most programs have two separate buttons for chapter and next file selection, I thought it was a bug when I left clicked it and found myself at the next file, I think the default binds should be reversed (i.e. next chapter is left cilck, next file is right click)

Aesthetic/Usability: I think Mouse 4 and Mouse 5 (side buttons) should be bound by default to switch between next/previous chapters but currently Mouse 4 and Mouse 5 cannot be bound.

Aesthetic/User-Friendliness: I think the default buttons for next audio/subtitle should be A and S (those are the first buttons one would try to press for "A"udio and "S"ubtitles, and this would not be unique to this media player as K-Lite's Media Player Classic does this as well, and CMPlayer is the only viable alternative to that player on Linux as it's the only one that comes near it in Quality (Thank you for Lanzcos upscaling and audio channel remapping!)

User Frinedliness/Under-the-hood: I would like it if you can add an auto-detect feature for audio channel layout selection that queries the selected audio driver (alsa/pulse) for supported channels. With this you could remove the channel layout option from the context menu and place it in the preferences instead. It might also be nice to be able to select output PCM as that will enable me to set up devices as PCMs in asound.conf and then I can switch between devices internally in CMPlayer (as opposed to changing the default PCM of ALSA and then setting to stereo output in CMPlayer to use it)

I may also come around sometime suggesting improvements to the look and feel of the OSC (On screen controls) which I think should definitely be getting it's own styling before 1.0. I could take it upon myself to compare the features to other media player's OSCs and see about how CMPlayers could have more features crammed into it and how we could make it look better too.
