Ayr has been forked from fyr and it uses dmenu to manage menus of application launchers, which can be either executables or desktop files. It also opens files and URIs with launchers, desktop files, or applications associated by MIME-type. Desktop files and file associations are detected according to XDG standards, as far as is practical, and a wrapper is provided to let ayr function as an xdg-open replacement. Launchers can be grouped and/or made read-only with tags. Available now as an AUR package; execute the command 'ayr -h' for much more information once installed.
Main selling points:
Quickly runs, adds and deletes launchers and tags through menus.
Compliant with XDG standards and supports a wide range of desktop file keys.
Great for integrating with minimal desktop environments and file managers.
Notes for fyr users:
Functionality is similar to fyr, but launchers are stored in a single file rather than as symbolic links, leading to faster and less cumbersome processing. Also, tags are handled much more conveniently by ayr and their selection is menu-driven. It is intended that ayr will supersede fyr.
