Constant disconnects with TP-Link TL-WN822N (rtl8192cu)

I was having problems with my old TP-Link usb wifi device so I upgraded to the TL-WN822N. At first, it was working but was extremely slow. What I did to fix that was remove the old  rt800 drivers from my modprobe.d. Unfortunately I am  getting constant disconnects and am unable to reconnect to the access point without rebooting. Even unplugging and replugging in the device doesn't seem to work.

In my modprobe.d I have

options rtl8192cu ips=0 fwlps=0
options usbcore autosuspend=-1

iw dev:

phy#0
	Interface wlp10s0u3
		ifindex 4
		wdev 0x1
		addr e8:94:f6:13:9a:e3
		type managed
		channel 6 (2437 MHz), width: 20 MHz, center1: 2437 MHz

dmesg doesn't seem to provide any useful information. Any ideas what could be causing my issues? The drivers for this chipset are no longer available in the AUR, I'm guessing because the drivers are in the kernel now

Same experience here using the in-kernel drivers, however https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/8192cu-dkms/ (note it was renamed slightly from the one you're likely thinking of (dkms-8192cu)) and netctl-auto are 100% rock solid with dramatically better speeds and signal
