Why is it a default now even for my old GMA45? Or is it a quirk on my system? I'm pretty sure it was not the default when I installed my system back in February 2014, contrary to what https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/In … ion_method says.

That's the default for intel drivers. Create a config file and set it to UXA if you want.

Re #2. Yup, it does work.
PS. Is /var/log/Xorg.0.log still valid with systemd? I've deleted Xorg.* logs and they haven't got re-created after reboot.

PS. Is /var/log/Xorg.0.log still valid with systemd?
Systemd has taken over log functionality with journalctl --- I think it's an improvement, see man journalctl for all the options ![]()
