How do I obtain notification popups for Volume?
I have a keyboard with volume controls and on Gnome3 it worked fine but switching to xfce4 I do not get the popup anymore, anyone know/recommend anything to get it working?

There is a program in the AUR called volnoti. It allows you to have OSX like volume popups. I tried it for a bit and it works quite well. Ultimately I stopped using it because I didn't feel as though I needed it.

I second the recommendation for volnoti. I also haven't used it in a while, but it was light, simple, elegant. It did exactly what it was supposed to do.
