Hey there,
Good news for mesa-users:
http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=n … px=MTcxMzk
https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steamo … lunarglass
Is there a chance of getting an AUR-package of this before it gets merged into "vanilla"-mesa?
Would love to finally get more than 20FPS in 3D-heavy games.
Have a nice day ![]()

raunz, it doesn't look like it would be too hard to adjust stock mesa or mesa-git to build this.
some things to be aware of :
Note that this is a work in progress. Some functionality is not
implemented or working.
While this code is still under development and its ultimate fate is unknown (LunarG has told me Valve doesn't know yet whether it will ultimately ship with SteamOS or Steam Machines, etc), the code is available via
This "Glassy Mesa" approach allows any Mesa back-end that can take Mesa GLSL IR as input as beneficial to this technology, with the main driver under the microscope being Intel's i965 DRI driver and most testing being done form Haswell hardware.
It does look like people running an intel haswell platforms with only the integrated gpu could be interested in this.
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?

Thx for the reply

So you don't think say radeonsi-users can benefit from that?

The block diagram in LunarG does show nouveau and radeon drivers can work with GlassyMesa .
Also the git commit log does list r600 / radeonsi related commits by Marek Olšák .
That suggests atleast 1 of the people involved tests on amd graphics systems.
In the long term it could benefit all mesa drivers, but the code should imo be classified as experimental.
I think anyone using it now, should be willing to register bug reports and help with troubleshooting.
Raunz, if you feel you're up to that, go ahead and start making a PKGBUILD for it.
There should be plenty of arch users willing to help you with the PKGBUILD.
