Something strange is going on with bttv. Today's kernel update doesn't even load the bttv module on startup. The last kernel was going wackoo if it was rmmod and then modprobe back. Ivtv is loading and seems to be working as long as ivtv related tools are used.

I guess I should add that the current kernel doesn't show anything in dmesg, but the immediate past kernel didn't even show a card type being recognized. Should I file a bug?

The device doesn't show with lspci.

modprobing bttv (manually since it won't do automatically on boot):
bttv: driver version 0.9.19 loaded
bttv: using 8 buffers with 2080k (520 pages) each for capture
This is all it shows for bttv module while the ivtv modules load normally.
Blank message along with not existing in lspci -- board must not be seated properly.
