ATI --> NVIDIA Problem

Hi,

I just switched from ATI (9700) to NVIDIA (5900XT). Driver installation went very smooth. Everything seems to work except Americas Army.

The performance is ***** --> 10 - 20 fps 1024 x 768 details very low... Probably it only affects the new ut engine...

All the other games including wine/winex games (GTAVC, CS, Morrowind) are running quite good.

My suggestion is, that an old part of the ATI driver still is in my system (yes, I've already made a pacman -R ati-drivers ...).

Anybody has the same problem? I don't want to reinstall my whole arch, because is just cleaned up my cache... :-(

p.s.: i installed the nvidia driver five times and already deleted the /usr/lib/libGL* files and /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL* files....

Re: ATI --> NVIDIA Problem

My guess is that America's Army uses a lot shaders, which ATI cards can handle much better than Geforce cards. Upgrading from Radeon 9700 to Geforce 5900XT wasn't really worth it imho, could better wait till the next generation videocards if you really want the fastest.

Re: ATI --> NVIDIA Problem

Sorry, but you are wrong.

You are right, that ATI has a better shader-performance then NVIDIA but these shaders are not supported by OpenGL 1.4 and furthermore not supported but AA (as far as I know). And the shader performance is always tested with directX benchmarks....

I already had a Geforce 4 Ti 4200 installed and the performance was as good as my ATI performance under AA.

So there has to be another solution...
