odd naming of optical discs

I have two IDE optical drives connected to a single IDE port. For some reason the first one (master) gets the name "cd" (lowercase) while the second gets the name "DVD" (uppercase).

Totem does not seem to pick up the "DVD" device and only has the "cd" device in the drop down "movie" menu. I can therefor only play DVD's from the first drive, not the second.

Can someone explain why the devices are named this way (presumably some part of the udev setup) and why the DVD drive is missing from Totem?

Many thanks in advance.

Phil.

Re: odd naming of optical discs

Forgot to mention....

Both drives are actually DVD burners.

I am using Noodle 0.7.1 with all updates applied (e.g. udev 084.4, latest 2.6.15 kernel) etc. Up to date as of today in fact.

Also I have not made any changes to any of the udev rules files either.
