I'm trying to install dwb-git. It installs with no problem with aura, but pacaur gives me problems. If I run pacaur as regular user it will build but will not install and will say permission denied.
If I run pacaur with sudo it will say building packages as root is a bad idea and will quit. The only other possibility I see is running it with --asroot flag which is a really bad idea.

Does this not do as it says?
-y, --sync
Download target(s) PKGBUILD, build and install target(s). Missing dependencies will be automatically installed as required.

No, I get the errors I described above.

In the first post you said it failed with a permission denied for the installation step - but your second post does not show that. The build failed. There is nothing to install.
EDIT: I just installed pacaur, then used it to install dwb-git. It worked fine. I assume you've made local modifications to the dwb code that are causing the build to fail. Remove all that and start fresh. You may also be missing needed dependencies - I don't know how pacaur handles dependencies.

Oops. Yes, build failed. Can you tell me why? It builds fine using makepkg and aura.

See my edit - if you have started fresh and get the same errors, I'd guess it is missing dependencies.

I didn't make any modifications. Webkitgtk is a missing dependancy in this case. But why doesn't pacaur detect it?

edit: sorry I had misinformation here.

The question would be more "Why doesn't pacaur detect it on your system?"

And... what was the issue, if I may ask?

I'm not really sure, but reboot and "pacaur -S dwb-git" just worked.
