PulseAudio, HDA Intel, module-alsa-sink Daemon startup failed

Hey,

so I updated Skype the other day and it said I must have PulseAudio now. So I installed it. But I can only get the sound through my monitor speakers (monitor connected via Display Port).

 aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 0: ALC1150 Analog [ALC1150 Analog]
  Subdevices: 0/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 1: ALC1150 Digital [ALC1150 Digital]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 7: HDMI 1 [HDMI 1]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 8: HDMI 2 [HDMI 2]
  Subdevices: 0/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 9: HDMI 3 [HDMI 3]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

so I edited the /etc/pulse/default.pa and added this:

load-module module-alsa-sink device=hw:0,0

but then pulseaudio --start gives

E: [pulseaudio] module.c: Failed to load module "module-alsa-sink" (argument: "device=hw:0,0"): initialization failed.
E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Module load failed.
E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Failed to initialize daemon.

Funny thing - as soon as I installed Skype, I was trying to get this working, and gave up. Did a reboot and it worked - I had to choose from two sinks and I could use my speakers which are connect to my motherboard. But after another reboot it stopped - and now I get the error when I uncomment the alsa module.

I tried to remove ~/.config/pulse and reboot, it still gives the same error...
So, what should I do next smile

edit: when I go to PulseAudio Manager (via pasystray) and go to the Modules tab, there is a 'module-alsa-card' with argument 'deviceid="1" name="pci-0000_01_00.1" card_name="alsa_card.pci-0000_01_00.1" namereg_fail=false tsched=yes fixed_latency_range=no ignore_dB=no deferred_volume=yes use_ucm=yes card_properties="module-udev-detect.discovered=1". Don't know what it means, but maybe it will help...

Thanks

Re: PulseAudio, HDA Intel, module-alsa-sink Daemon startup failed

Ok, so I gave up on this a while back and used monitor speakers only. Then yesterday it just showed me the second sink and I could use my regular speakers, but this morning I did a reboot, and the second sink is gone again.

Does anyone have some suggestions this time?

Thanks
