[SOLVED] Cannot boot anymore into Arch.

Hello, I can't boot anymore in Arch. This are the errors that appear on screen:

Warning: /lib/modules/3.15.2-1-ARCH/modules.devname not found
ERROR: resume: hibernation device '/dev/sda7' not found
ERROR: device 'UUID=[inset /dev/sda7 uuid here]' not found. Skipping fsck.
ERROR: Unable to find root device 'UUID=[inset /dev/sda5 uuid here]
You are being dropped to arecovery shell
Type 'exit' to try and continue booting
sh: can't access tty: job control turned off
[rootfs /]#

Yesterday I updated my system through pacman and I'm not sure if there was a kernel update, but I remember that there's was an error message that repeated for several packages that said something like "Unable to move [pkgname].install (or something like that) to /tmp (because it ran out of space, remeber it uses tmpfs)".

Additionally I used the command "sudo /forcefsck" (THen hibernated and after resuming form hibernation I worked and shutdown my computer) to perform a routine fs check (Which should have been performed at the moment of the failure). Since there's a mention to fsck in the 2nd error I thought this problem could be related to the command I wrote (I never executed fsck this way), so I deleted the forcefsck file located on / that my command generated.

Also I just created a swapfile and added it /etc/fstab like this:

/swapfile swap swap defaults 0 0

Also I want you to know that the uuid's that appear on the errors does perfectly match the uuid of their corresponding partitions, so there's no problem with uuid's in that way.

Please, if anybody does know the way to fix this please give me the answer.

Thanks in advance Shadow_Reaper13

Re: [SOLVED] Cannot boot anymore into Arch.

I forgot to mention that when I'm dropped in the shell I can't use my keyboard at all; it seems that is isn't being detected.

Re: [SOLVED] Cannot boot anymore into Arch.

Hello everyone, I solved this by reinstalling the kernel according to this wiki entry. Thank you anyway.

Re: [SOLVED] Cannot boot anymore into Arch.

Hi all,

I had this issue after updting a very old instalation. I didn't have older kernel. So I just reinstalled the linux kernel as:

pacman -S linux

And that did it for me.

Please compare the dates, and don't necrobump 3 year old threads with easily obtainable information.
