hello!
i search for a file manager like total commander. currently i use emelfm2. but i miss the most importent feature: to select items by pressing space and moving down to the next file. i tested tuxcmd, but there i miss the feature to specify default directories for the panels. other important things are to bind filetypes and two panel design.
is there any fm out there supporting this features?
thx iggy

did you try gnomecommander?

Here are good choices:
Krusader for KDE
Tux Commander for other DEs/WMs
XNC for plain X

Try out XNC - it is clearly an older X application, but I think that it will meet your needs, and the keys for various functions are configurable. Plus, it has an integrated FTP mode that works quite well. I have tried it out just this past weekend, and can already see that it is going to become a permanent part of my regular toolset.

You can also try xfe (homepage), it's in community and have nice 2-panel interface and filebindings. Total Commmander is incredible and only Krusader can give the same power but it depends on kdebase... So my personal choice is still emelfm2 (I use gnome as DE).
BTW new emelfm2 0.1.6 with a lots of new features will be available soon I think Branch prerelease 2006-02-16 available now but I don't recommend to use it 'cause of instability.
