Can't resize columns using mouse in wmii 3.9.2-4

I upgraded my system recently and I noticed that I could no longer resize columns using the mouse in wmii 3.9.2-4, even when using the default wmiirc. Resizing using the custom keybindings that I've set up work, which are mapped to commands similar to this one:

wmiir xwrite /tag/sel/ctl grow sel sel right 1

Downgrading to wmii 3.9.2-3 restored the ability to resize columns with the mouse.

What was changed in 3.9.2-4, and how can the functionality be restored?

Also, as tempting as it may be, please don't start recommending other WMs. I want this to work in wmii.

I'm on a 64-bit system on a stock Linux kernel, version 3.15.3-1.

I have the same problem, and downgrade solved it as well.
I'm running stock 3.16.2-1 kernel, 64-bit.

EDIT: bug report on https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/42056
