Tt eSPORTS SAPHIRA mouse support

About a year ago I asked for help with a new mouse I bought that wasn't showing any activity for the buttons with xev. Well, despite I stopped using the mouse I'm planning on buying another gaming mouse but I'm really skeptical about it after I couldn't solve the issue with the last one. A guy on the last thread said that this happened because of the way that kernel 3.3 handles USB devices (which caused the issue) and that kernel 3.2 had no problems.

I hope I'm asking in the right place, any help on this? I would really like to stick with Arch and use the mouse.

Re: Tt eSPORTS SAPHIRA mouse support

Are you wanting help on the new mouse you plan on getting, or on the old mouse you currently have? What model is it in either case?

EDIT: Sorry, I'm apparently blind and didn't see the name in the title!

Re: Tt eSPORTS SAPHIRA mouse support

The mouse is a Tt eSPORTS Saphira as it says on the title. I'm asking if this is either solved or still unknown. I don't want to buy another mouse that doesn't work on Arch.

Perhaps someone else here might know, but have you tried it in Arch recently? The current kernel is 3.15 which is quite a bit newer than the one you were probably using (probably 3.7 or 3.8?) at the time. I'd give that a go if no one else can confirm for you.

Actually I don't have the mouse in my power anymore, so I haven't tried. I hope someone can help before I give it a go, just to be certain this time.

Re: Tt eSPORTS SAPHIRA mouse support

Use google, see if anyone else had a good/bad experience with it.

Given the name of the device I assume it is a super duper special competition mouse, where the "special" features are only accessible once you install their special driver (for windows only of course). Judging by your previous bad experience, I would stay clear of it unless they explicitly support linux or if you can find someone saying they could make it work without hacks/workarounds/tricks/jumping through hoops.

Re: Tt eSPORTS SAPHIRA mouse support

If I may suggest to you an alternative; that is, look at Mad Catz's mice.  I own the R.A.T. 7 Contagion and it works perfectly in Arch after some tweaking.  I have yet to make my post on how I got it working into a wiki entry (still having problems figuring out how to edit the wiki).  You'll find my post here.
