Hi,
I was trying to update today,
this is what i got when I did pacman -Syu
[vladuz@box ~]$ sudo pacman -Syu
:: Synchronizing package databases...
current [################] 100% 65K 11.9K/s 00:00:05
:: extra is up to date
:: community is up to date
:: ttf-bitstream-vera conflicts with xorg. Remove xorg? [Y/n] n
error: package conflicts detected
[vladuz@box ~]$
anybody experiencing the same?

Try answering 'y', see if that works.
edit: I guess I'll be a little more detailed. Xorg 7 has just hit current. So even if you answer 'y' to remove xorg 6.8, you'll be updating to xorg 7 anyway.
edit again: I've just gotten word that trying to remove xorg in this way causes dependency problems... you might have to do this to get it to work:
$ pacman -Rd xorg
$ pacman -Syu

I i accept that i get another error.
i put the output here:

I have the same error. Is there a simple way around this?

I would remove the four packages listed in the error, complete the upgrade, and then reinstall them again.

There's a few threads starteded about this problem. I wasn't sure as to which one would be best to post in. Anyway It seems weird that this would only effect a few people. Will there be a fixed xorg package added to current in the near future? I would rather wait for a fixed package build in current.

I find this confusing. I get the same error and I do not even have ttf-bitstream-vera installed.
What should I do?

I've got the same running current on one sys:
# pacman -Syu

following the instructions in wiki for upgrading xorg I get this output.
error: the following file conflicts were found:
libgl-dri: /usr/lib/libGL.so.1: exists in filesystem
errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

Have performed all the suggested upgrade elements but still have a problem in startx....have ati 8500 radeon and it is rejected by startx.
I would appreciate, and I am sure others as well, a posting of xorg.conf illustrating the proper entries as outlined in the upgrade posts.
Entering...Xorg-configure...gives bash response.
Prediction...This year will be a very odd year!
