After installing Xorg7 today from current, I ran into problems starting kdm/kde. Apparentely kdm tries to start X from /usr/X11R6/bin/X instead of /usr/bin/X. Making a symlink solved the problem, but there must be somewhere to correct where kdm looks when starting X? I tried modifying /opt/kde/share/config/kdm/kdmrc.default, where I set the option:
ServerCmd=/usr/bin/X -br
but that didn't seem to do the trick
Any ideas?

I believe you should set it in /opt/kde/share/config/kdm/kdmrc as well (or first of all).

your mirrors are probably out of sync, kde-common 3.5.1 has everything to fit to new xorg

Running pacman -S libxss xcompmgr xorg-fonts-100dpi xorg-fonts-75dpi xorg-fonts-type1 fixed my problems -- lacking a taskbar, desktop icons, and the pop up menu triggered by the right mouse button.
Sweet, now I can play with myself.
