Hi,
I'm having trouble updating my system because of a conflict between mesa-libgl and nvidia-libgl. Unfortunately I don't know much about the package manager so I was hoping someone would be able to help / point me in the right direction.
When I try to update I get the following:
:: Starting full system upgrade...
:: Replace polkit-qt with extra/polkit-qt4? [Y/n] y
resolving dependencies...
looking for inter-conflicts...
error: unresolvable package conflicts detected
error: failed to prepare transaction (conflicting dependencies)
:: nvidia-libgl and mesa-libgl are in conflictI also ran the following command which I found in another thread, if this helps at all.

Why do you have *all* video drivers installed?? Remove all of them except for the one that corresponds to your video card.

Can you tell me which graphics driver is the best to use these days please? This is the card I have:
NVIDIA Corporation GT218 [GeForce 210] (rev a2)Offline
When was the last time you updated?
About a month or so ago, I did update regularly before that and then this problem came up and I've only just got round to looking into it.

For that card you would either be using nouveau or nividia.
pacman -Qs nouveau & pacman -Qs nividia should help to find out which of those you installed.
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

I'm guessing the OP just installed the xorg-drivers group which (at least for a while) was a recommendation on the wiki. It always seemed foolish to me, and now we have clear evidence as to why.
If my suspicion is correct, the OP is using nouveau as nvdia is not part of the driver group.
EDIT: looking at the list, this is incorrect. That is not the full xorg-drivers group, and neither nvidia nor nouveau are installed, but nv is.
Daniel7912, could you please post the output of the following command:
uname -aLast edited by Trilby (2014-07-23 11:54:09)

The nvidia command brings back results, but nouveau doesn't. I also typed in 'lspci -k' and got the following:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GT218 [GeForce 210] (rev a2)
Subsystem: CardExpert Technology Device 1401
Kernel driver in use: nvidia
Kernel modules: nouveau, nvidiaI'm guessing the OP just installed the xorg-drivers group which (at least for a while) was a recommendation on the wiki. It always seemed foolish to me, and now we have clear evidence as to why.

We have a nice wiki, please read the articles on nvidia and xorg. You should be able to figure out things on your own.

Thanks, the `uname -a` was to ensure that you were using archlinux rather than some derivative distro. Arch-based distros often install all sorts of crap without the user knowing - this can make it very challenging to help troubleshoot.
In this case you are using archlinux proper, yet you do have a big load of drivers installed ... you must have installed them at some point. It seems you didn't actually install the xorg-drivers group yet you have a majority of its members. Or perhaps you installed the whole group, then selectively removed a few. A review of your pacman log may help refresh your memory.
In either case, it will greatly benefit you to pay attention to what you install or uninstall. Aside from a derivative distro, there are also some automated 'installation scripts' that might lead to such a situation.
Anyhow, the solution to your immediate issue is to figure out which driver you want to use, and remove the other(s). But understanding the root cause will be important to prevent future issues.

Thanks for your help.
For anyone that might come across this in future, it turns out I needed to remove the intel drivers and then the updates went OK.

You should remove all the drivers you don't need.
