Hi, I just updated my 64-bit system, and skype tries to start, but then I get a console message "Aborted". Has anyone else seen this or have a work-around? I downloaded skype directly and it does the same thing.

Not sure whats going on, but I removed my ~/.Skype and restarted.
Seems to be OK now.

thanks!!! that fixed the issue for me!
Before I deleted ~/.skype, it appears like it was running out of memory and getting killed or something.
Now sound does not work -- one step at a time ...

Recently(last month) skype released a new version which only works using pulseaudio.
If you have an ALSA-only system this explains why there is no sound.
