Latest UDEV seems to have some issues

Basically, when I updated my main server last night the latest UDEV left my server unbootable. I had to back rev UDEV and Initscritpts back to the one on the noodle CD.

Apparently udev named my /dev/hda3 as something bizzare under /dev/disk/disk0/ (I can't remember what, I was trying to get it running so that the missus would not kill me for loosing all her email).

Upshot was when the auto disk check kicked in it reported super block problems and would only let me in in maintenence mode.

Kind regards

I will have to tell you when I get home. The server is ready to take home with me, and is unplugged etc.

Re: Latest UDEV seems to have some issues

The version was udev-084-4.pkg.tar.gz

To be fair, I had not updated the way my /etc/rc.conf was organised, so that may well have been the problem.

Any one else had a similar problem?

What version did you upgrade from? There were a bunch of udev changes a week to two weeks ago - check the relevant news items of Feb 11th and 15th.

Re: Latest UDEV seems to have some issues

The previous version I had installed was udev-068-4.pkg.tar.gz

Thanks for that though I will take a look.

(Should realy have looked first. : - )

Re: Latest UDEV seems to have some issues

No problem. 068 to 084 is massive, particularly for udev, but the news and wiki pages will sort you out.

Re: Latest UDEV seems to have some issues

I've just blown up another machine, and it seems to be all down to what is in fstab. I just used the pacnew version which does not say where my root (/) is, so does not check it and does not throw a wobbly.

Question is what do others fstabs look like?
