Automatic mounting

How can I set up KDE and/or gnome to automatically mount devices when they're plugged in, or CDs/DVDs when they're inserted?

On that note, how can I get video DVDs to mount as video dvds?

Adding dbus and hal to your daemons in rc.conf should do the job.
