KDE5 framework vs kde4 packages in the the repos

I am confused over the difference between these two. For users wishing to use KDE5, shall we install the kde5 framework with the "kf5" package alias and then the rest of the kde desktop with the alias "kdebase"?

no. only "kf5" and "kf5-aids" for the base kf5 frameworks

the rest of "KDE5" from [AUR] (like plasma-workspace and plasma-desktop)

plasma-framework 5.1.0.1 is in "kf5" package now, though I haven't figured out how to start it up. I wonder if it's something different from plasma-desktop...

Yes, it is different. There are a few threads already explaining how to install and start plasma desktop
