Package installation database

Hi,

When I install packages, I accidentally installed some packages which are pull in as dependency of some other package, say package P. pacman can point out that it will perform a reinstall of that package. I want to know if pacman will add this package into my system package dependencies and keeps it even package P no longer depends on it? And how can I remove this package from my system dependency database while keep it in my system?

In Gentoo, there's a world that stores system package dependency and I can edit it manually. What about pacman?

Thanks,
D.

Re: Package installation database

Take a look at man pacman
Note the Query operation (-Q) d and t options.  And the Update operation (-U) -asdeps and -asexplicit options.
