test grub2 themes without going through reboot

Hello,

Is there a simple way to display the grub menu from the theme.txt file, without having to reboot? My google searches always return solutions to enable the menu...

I have a lite Arch VM in Virtual Box for this very purpose.  It takes a little time to set up, but boots / restarts in a bout half the time of the the host machine.
