After updating to kernel 3.16 I have experienced a reduced battery life with my macbook pro retina late 2013.
For example with full battery and kernel 3.15 I got ~9-10h, now with 3.16 I get ~6h.
Anybody experienced the same issue?

Please provide some actual information.

Actually, jibi did provide some information: kernel versions, hardware and how long the battery lasts.
ccjh, on the other hand, has given no clues as to which information might be missing...
jibi: have you noticed the processor getting hotter, by any chance?

I did not experienced any temperature or fan speed increase.
At the time I am using kernel 3.15, asap I will try the latest 3.17-rc to find out if something changes.
Thank you colinh

i have also felt that my battery seems to be draining faster after the kernel upgrade, though i have not made any actual measurements. I will report back after collecting some data.

Could be this issue, if you got Haswell macbook as well.
Forcing frame buffer compression could help if it doesn't cause any issues for you: http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/i … 51375.html

yeah, thank you ooo
I've just spotted the same thing on phoronix http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=n … px=MTc3NTE
and turning on the fb compression with
i915.enable_fbc=1seems to increase battery life.
