Hi,
I tried to print something on my printer today, but it didn't work. I used lsusb to see if my printer was plugged in, but it didn't show up. dmesg showed:
[76509.533412] usb 3-2: USB disconnect, device number 2
[76596.308287] usb 3-2: new high-speed USB device number 6 using xhci_hcd
[76596.468262] usb 3-2: device descriptor read/64, error -71
[76596.571515] xhci_hcd 0000:00:14.0: Setup ERROR: setup context command for slot 5.
[76596.571518] usb 3-2: hub failed to enable device, error -22
[76596.731486] usb 3-2: new high-speed USB device number 7 using xhci_hcd
[76596.891527] usb 3-2: device descriptor read/64, error -71I tried to connect the printer to another computer, but with the same results.
Only on my old Ubuntu machine the printer was detected correctly.
Summary:
Working: Ubuntu 3.11.0.24-generic
Not working: Arch Linux 3.15.5-1 nor Arch Linux 3.16.1-1
Printer: Canon PIXMA IP4950
What can I do to get it working again? (Beside of downgrading the kernel?)

Have you rebooted since upgrading your kernel?

Yes, I have.
I am currently building the 3.17.0-1-mainline kernel for testing purposes

Installing the mainline kernel and unplugging the printer from the power supply for a while helped. It's working, thank you.
