Empathy not connecting to gtalk

Hello Arch community,
So I am trying to get Empahty to connect to gtalk, it just says connecting contiously. When searching the forums the only thread I could find on my topic which is quiet old is this one...

I would have tried those methods however empathy has changed a lot since then and I couldn't even find those options anymore. Any ideas on how to fix the issue? Thanks Everyone.

Is telepathy group installed?

pacman -S telepathy

I did that last night and it showed them reinstalling. Plus I am able to setup up my google account but it just keeps showing it trying to connect and my contacts never come up. It never even says "failed to connect". Any other ideas?

EDIT: I don't know if this helps or not but even my WiFi applet shows continuously trying to connect, however my machine is connected to the network as I am able to go online and download packages.
