[SOLVED] Do I need Mkinitcpio-btrfs for installtion

I'm going to install arch with the following:
1) BTRFS
2) GTP partions
3) motherboard in UEFI mode  (so I need two partitions)
4) gummiboot

So do I need to install Mkinitcpio-btrf? this kossboss guide used it in a similar setup with (UEFI + GTP)
http://www.kossboss.com/linux---arch-in … -grub-boot

The arch Wiki says  "mkinitcpio-btrfs enables roll-back abilities"  so you can't do snap shots without it?

The arch Wiki for mkinitcpio-btrfs says  "Having a separate /boot partition is not supported by mkinitcpio-btrfs"  but my setup needs a separate UEFI boot Partition will it still work?

Your UEFI /boot will be a separate FAT partition and with that not on the btrfs partition. It's strange indeed that it is said to be a problem.

For the hook (and separate boot), see here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 0#p1446150
You sure can do snapshots, but I am not sure myself what the "roll back" reference you quote means.

edit: correcting wrong paste

No, you don't need it. In most cases, you don't even need the "normal" btrfs hook (which is included in the official Arch btrfs-progs package).

The rollback capabilities of btrfs are all still there, whether you use the AUR mkinitcpio-btrfs hook or not, the mkinitcpio-btrfs hook just attempts to make the process easier for you, by making it possible to mount a snapshot in place of your normal root subvolume on-the-fly during the boot process.*

The mkinitcpio-btrfs hook probably doesn't work with UEFI installs.

*At least, this is what it used to do, I haven't used it in a year or two
