I have upgraded to xorg 7 from current. It has been an ordeal so far. Dependency hell, exactly what pacman usually helps us avoid...
I've updated xorg.conf and changed paths, but still: all I get is a blank screen. I can kill the server (as beeps tell me) but the screen remains blank, which means I have no access to console and must reboot. This is with the i810 driver. And no hints from log files, which do not report any error [edited].
The server does work OK with the VESA driver though.
It must be something with the Intel driver.
Any experience? Any idea?
Thanks,
nam

Xorg's bugzilla has a few bug reports which exactly describe my problem:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5443
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5201
It is apparently fixed in CVS. I'll use Vesa until next X version hits Arch's server.
