Latest webkit update renders epiphany unusable

The update "webkitgtk (2.4.1-1 -> 2.4.2-1)" renders epiphany unusable in the sense that most websites crash after some seconds or on scrolling, e.g., the two major german news websites (spiegel.de and zeit.de).

Downgrading solves the problem.

Can I somehow debug webkit? I only found gtk-debug in the command line options.

As an epiphany user, what should I be looking forward to? A new webkitgtk build, or perhaps a new epiphany build? Or something else?

I guess the question is, is this arch specific or not....if not, how the hell could it slip through the devs....

Downgrading to 2.4.1 is only workaround atm.

If you have upgraded, 2.4.1 should still be in /var/cache/pacman/pkg
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Do … g_packages

and tried downloading from arm website, but can't install, thanks.

What error?

Re: Latest webkit update renders epiphany unusable

I'm quite intrigued by this problem.

The weird thing is that firefox has no problem to load pages like youtube, while Epiphany (Gnome-Web 3.12) cannot.
For further investigation, I've downloaded the source code of webkitgtk (http://webkitgtk.org/releases) and compiled the version 2.4.1 to see whether this downgrade could help me.

The source code comes with two mini browsers : Programs/GtkLauncher and Programs/MiniBrowser and for my surprise, they behave differently. The first loads youtube without any issues, but not the latter. The MiniBrowser behaves exactly like Epiphany.

I've returned to use webkitgtk 2.4.3 and firefox...
No clues to what is going on here..

Re: Latest webkit update renders epiphany unusable

Can anyone say if this problem is still around in 2.4.5?

My fonts look fine in Epiphany. However, I've reistalled, which might have cleaned out something related.
