Add new songs to deadbeef playlist

Hi,

How do you add new songs to the deadbeef playlist. All of my music is in one folder. If I add music from eight new cd's, do I have to remember which ones they are and then navigate to my music folder and pick out the specific files to add? I have been deleting the playlist and then adding the folder again. I really like this player but with over 25,000 files it's more than a minor inconvenience waiting for everything to reload before I can hear some music. Any suggestions on a good way to handle this?

Thanks!

Re: Add new songs to deadbeef playlist

You might want to look at mpd, its library controlled by a gui/mpd-client like ncmpcpp lets you sort, filter, add/remove and play your collection in a more efficient way I would argue. There is also MusicBrainz Picard, which is great to organize your whole collection.
You could also create a playlist for every album/artist and operate with those.

Do you use a GUI file manager? If you can sort by file creation date, then you can easily see and select the newest music files and click and drag them into deadbeef.

Re: Add new songs to deadbeef playlist

Currently there's no good solution to your problem with deadbeef - unless you organize your albums in different folders. But there are plans to add a media library to deadbeef with the next release which should deal with your problem, so you might want to watch out for that.

Re: Add new songs to deadbeef playlist

I can use some of these suggestions and in the mean time I'll definitely look forward to the next release.

Thanks for all of the replies.
