how do I run games from itch.io?

I found the link to itch.io on the linux wiki (games) so I downloaded a couple of games. There are no instructions on the itch.io website on how to run these downloaded files. Any instructions in the .zip file are about the controls for the game. Some have executables and some don't. The games are supposed to be for linux. Can anyone tell me what I'm missing?

The VA-11 HALL-A has a .sh with +x in the main directory. Running it from that directory like so: works.

./VA-11_Hall_A.sh
