Applications fight for sound

So when I watch youtube videos and then try to play music on amarok, amarok sez: not today! When I want to play a video around the same time Dragon player is stuck on one frame, no sound, VLC plays video but no sound, MPlayer works fine And then everything works fine, but when I play some more music on amarok and then try to switch to youtube videos, Youtube sez: not today! big_smile
basically youtube switches the video quallity from 240p to 148p to 480p to 720p to a point where it says "NO MOAAAAR... youtube cant play this video right now, please try again later" or something like that smile

Edit: You probably also should disable and unload suspend-on-idle-module from pulseaudio, this will prevent other applications from occupying alsa device, since PA will. Make sure pulseaudio-alsa package is installed, should you want to continue using PA. Alternatively use dmix and dsnoop as default sink and source, as stated on arch linuxs pulseaudio wiki page.

Yes, it is your own thread. And you still provide no relevant information.

Re: Applications fight for sound

Yeah i know that thats my thread, and I mentioned that very same problem and I supose I have given you a huge pile of info with the outputs of the commands you told me to execute, here is a link (for those who might not know what we are talking about): https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 9#p1453939
anyway, I could follow you till now, but how do I disable and unload suspend-on-idle-module from pulseaudio, and what the hell does that even mean?

I installed pulseaudio-alsa, didnt solve it

what are dmix and dsnoop?
