Running netctl as root but dhcpcd not enough permissions

I'm trying to get my Arch working with eduroam, using netctl and following netctl-eduroam's example.

However, I get a failure if I run

sudo netctl restart eduroam

looking at the journalctl, I see:

Sep 08 07:53:11 bluerocket dhcpcd[314]: dhcpcd will not work correctly unless run as r
Sep 08 07:53:11 bluerocket dhcpcd[314]: open `/run/dhcpcd.pid': Permission denied
Sep 08 07:53:11 bluerocket dhcpcd[314]: control_start: No such file or directory
Sep 08 08:38:09 bluerocket dhcpcd[7823]: dhcpcd will not work correctly unless run as
Sep 08 08:38:16 bluerocket dhcpcd[315]: wlp0s26u1u4i2: if_init: Permission denied
Sep 08 08:40:40 bluerocket dhcpcd[315]: usb0: up_interface: Operation not permitted
Sep 08 08:40:40 bluerocket dhcpcd[315]: usb0: if_init: Permission denied
Sep 08 08:40:40 bluerocket dhcpcd[315]: enp0s26u1u2: up_interface: Operation not permi
Sep 08 08:40:40 bluerocket dhcpcd[315]: enp0s26u1u2: if_init: Permission denied
Sep 08 08:41:36 bluerocket dhcpcd[315]: enp0s26u1u2: if_init: Permission denied

Why does dhcpcd not have enough permissions if I ran netctl as root?

mhm... instead trying with sudo, maybe open a # shell and give the netctl command there?
