[SOLVED] Disabling KMS - nomodeset

I am trying to disable KMS by following the official arch guide, however its not very clear in where to set the parameter nomodeset

A quote from the following page - https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ke … de_setting

To disable KMS add nomodeset as a kernel parameter.

But does not say where/how to add this.

It does have a link pointing to https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Kernel_parameters but in the config section it states how to add parameters via syslinux, GRUB, GRUB Legacy, LILO and Gummiboot.

I am at the initial stages of just entering a fresh boot install CD, so I do not have partitions setup, GRUB, etc to apply these commands to.

How can I add nomodeset at this early stage.

My need to do this is because Arch seems to be loading a ridiculous resolution naturally, I cannot read the text properly on the monitor to begin installation.

Thanks

Re: [SOLVED] Disabling KMS - nomodeset

I managed to do this by rebooting with the CD in.

At the options list to choose from, pressing TAB then suffixing the preset value with nomodeset.

It fixed my resolution problem.
