Moving email in kmail from one PC to another?

I have copied the home dir onto a CD-RW from a Slackware 10.2 installation and moved the Mail folder into the new home dir on Arch. When kmail starts it appears that all of the mail is there, but, each email that is clicked on is empty. It looks like the indexing is not linking up? Digging around recursively in the Mail folder each individual message is there. How do I get the indexing back in sync.

Thanks.

What happens if you select the File/Import Messages... menu item and follow the steps?

When you copied, did the ".*" directories get included? Have your tried deleting the index files?

edit: I use maildir format, maybe different for mbox.
