Hi all this is currently my fstab:
#
# /etc/fstab: static file system information
#
# <file system> <dir> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
none /dev/pts devpts defaults 0 0
none /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom auto ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0
/dev/dvd /mnt/dvd auto ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0
/dev/cdrw /mnt/cdrw auto rw,user,noauto,unhide 0 0
/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto rw,user,noauto,sync 0 0
/dev/hdb2 swap swap defaults 0 0
/dev/hdb1 / ext3 defaults,user_xattr 1$/dev/hdb3 /home ext3 defaults,user_xattr 1$/dev/hdb4 /windows vfat rw,users,umask=111,dmask=000 0 $
/dev/cdrom points to /dev/hdc same as /dev/dvd. and /dev/cdrw points to /dev/hdd. All the dev links are created in /dev/. but gxine still complains
Either create a symbolic link /dev/cdrom pointing to your cdrom device or set your cdrom device in the preferences dialog.
Dvd is alright though its just cds that are the problem.
and Totem with gstreamer gives the following
Totem was not able to play this disc. Failed to find mountpoint for /dev/hdc
I'll appreciate some help please.
A good friend will come and bail you out of jail...BUT a true friend will be sitting next to you saying, "Damn...that was fun!"

Not sure what's going on with gxine -- did you try specifying your cdrom as /dev/hdc or /dev/cdrom in its preferences?
As far as Totem is concerned, it looks like it's looking for /dev/hdc in your /etc/fstab (trying to find a mountpoint) but it can't find it. Once again, can you set its configuration to look for /dev/cdrom? Maybe adding /dev/hdc into your fstab would fix it?
