Hydrobuddy Not-yet-solved

I would like to use a program called HydroBuddd, a nutrient solution formulation program. It has a linux build, but I am unable to install it. Is there anyone who would be kind enough to put it in the AUR?

Re: Hydrobuddy Not-yet-solved

I've got it building, but haven't figured out what to do with the databases yet. I've got to go, so here's what I have so far:

# Contributor: Doug Newgard <scimmia at archlinux dot info>

pkgname=hydrobuddy
pkgver=1.50
pkgrel=1
pkgdesc="Hydroponic Nutrient Calculator"
arch=('i686' 'x86_64')
url="http://scienceinhydroponics.com/2013/02/the-first-free-hydroponic-nutrient-calculator-program-o.html"
license=('GPL' 'BSD')
depends=('gtk2')
makedepends=('lazarus')
source=("http://scienceinhydroponics.com/${pkgname}_v${pkgver/./_}_src.zip")
sha256sums=('52b575cf09f4b0891cee51abb1c9f3aa26df139ca2e0292fda5b54af17e6f509')

prepare() {
  cd "$srcdir/${pkgname}_v${pkgver/./_}_src"

  sed -i 's/, TCIOFLUSH/, Pointer(PtrInt(TCIOFLUSH))/g' synaser.pas
}

build() {
  cd "$srcdir/${pkgname}_v${pkgver/./_}_src"

  lazbuild hydrobuddy.lpi
}

package() {
  cd "$srcdir/${pkgname}_v${pkgver/./_}_src"

  install -Dm755 hydrobuddy "$pkgdir/usr/bin/hydrobuddy"
}

Re: Hydrobuddy Not-yet-solved

It mentions using Lazarus on OSX. Not sure what the related Windows software or Linux software would be though....

Re: Hydrobuddy Not-yet-solved

Yeah, if you read the PKGBUILD I posted, it uses Lazarus. I'm going through some bug reports right now, then I'll have time to get back to this.

Edit: Figures, this program is very much written for Windows. Had to dump it to /opt to make things work right.

Please test this and let me know how it goes. If everything's fine, we can upload it to the AUR.

Re: Hydrobuddy Not-yet-solved

The pkgbuild worked and I installed Hydrobuddy. The gtk theme didn't load but that was an easy fix. Otherwise, it looks like it is running correctly. Thanks for the help!

Re: Hydrobuddy Not-yet-solved

So I finally had some time to use the program, but everything in it is read-only. Tried sudo and normal launching it, but I cannot edit anything in the program. Any ideas Scimmia?

Re: Hydrobuddy Not-yet-solved

Nope, no idea. Doesn't seem to be a permission issue and it even happens in the build dir.

If you just need to use it, you can install lib32-gtk2 and run the installer provided by upstream. You end up with a 32-bit program that could break with each system upgrade, but it seems to work for now.
