gcc -m32 on a 32-bit computer

Sorry if my question is stupid. If I run "gcc" (not a cross-compiler) with the option "-m32" on a 32-bit (x86) computer, will it work?

I don't have x86. Actually, I have one, but it is broken. Then I need to install Arch32…
