bsdtar: “Can't create”

like mentioned in the PKGBUILD, building rust-nightly-bin failed really strangely:

bsdtar fails to extract many things, and my system starts acting weirdly as if my RAM was full, but it isn’t.

after hundreds of messages like

rust-nightly-x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu/doc/rustc/llvm/fn.LLVMCallFrameAlignmentOfType.html: Can't create 'rust-nightly-x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu/doc/rustc/llvm/fn.LLVMCallFrameAlignmentOfType.html'

the build fails, and during the build, my plasma-desktop and firefox crash. yet:
