Hi,
I have weird problem.
My computer freezes every now and then.
If i connect with ssh when it freezes and check htop, i can clearly see that Xorg hangs.
http://pastebin.com/fqfFq36a is something what i got from journalctl.
GPU: XFX Radeon 7850 dd
GPU drivers: Catalyst 14.9-10 with catalyst-hook from Vi0L0s repo.
Xorg version: 1.16.0-6
Kernel version: 3.16.3-1

A *new* driver is out:

OpenCL driver, that is.

Looks like this AMD OpenCL 2.0 Driver, versioned as 14.41 doesn't support xserver 1.16.
Too bad, I wanted to replace catalyst-test@AUR and [catalyst] repo with it, but I believe that most of you preffer xserver 1.16 support over OpenCL 2.0.
So for now those of you who wants to check openCL 2.0 can download package src from here: http://catalyst.wirephire.com/tarball/14.9-opencl2/
There you will find modified catalyst-test package with my fresh patch for kernel 3.17 rc6. Notes about the patch:
1. it probably wont work on 3.17 kernels older than rc6 because I don't know how to tell preprocessor about rc version
2. im unable to test resume/suspend
3. im not the developer, just pressing random keys so the patch could be less/more noobish :-)
Next to catalyst-test src pkg you will find opencl-headers2 src package (modified opencl-headers12 src)
I can see that there's a new version of codeXL, soon I will check it and update amdapp-codexl pkg (cant promise that it will happen today)
I'm also going to import 3.17rc6 patch into current catalyst-test@AUR and [catalyst] packages
Edit: ah, almost forgot, there are two new files in this openCL 2.0 driver: 1 lib: libamdhsasc<32/64>.so (HSA?) and one bin: amd-console-helper
# amd-console-helper
Error: Missing arguments. See usage:
AMD Console Helper
Usage: amd-console-helper [options]
Options:
-a load the fglrx kernel mode module and create all necessary device nodes
-h print this message
Edit2: I can see that phoronix posted catalyst 14.50 ... but do I really want to check some closed source kernel module coming from an unknown source? not sure
Edit3: OT: performed quick test and with the last cs:go update it does work really well, yesterday I wasnt even able to move, not to mention no sound

Hi guys, AMD put out a message stating that they want to improve their drivers and there's a Catalyst Satisfaction Feedback survery online right now.
EDIT: removed all query strings from the survery URL.

Is that your feedback survey, because it has a user-id?

I didn't notice that. Actually, I copied it from Reddit, so it's someone else's user-id. I'll edit my post and remove the ID!

I'm having some problem with installing the lib32-catalyst-libgl - it just keeps coming up with error's in pacman package manager. Did you or did you not do any update recently in the repository of "http://mirror.rts-informatique.fr/archl … lyst/$arch"? if so I can't install that particular catalyst component

Edit: I did also try out another repository for catalyst just as a precaution but the problem still persist.

You are clearly missing [multilib] repo, just uncomment it in your pacman.conf. And don't forget to search for your problems around first.

That is the main problem - [multilib] IS enabled! But why then am I having this problem?

Maybe refreshing pacman databases will help? Like this
# pacman -Syy lib32-catalyst-libgl

I too am experiencing these freezes that you speak of. However, I am only getting them when I'm using the OSS drivers (never with catalyst), and my error in the log is completely different. So I suppose this is a completely useless reply on my part. Meh.

So, to confirm, the latest catalyst release (14.9-11) will not with xorg 1.16?

You mean it works with x 1.16? That was probably the strangest way you could have gone about saying so. Thanks tho

:-)
EDIT: Also there is a "new" officiall Catalyst 14.9 driver, but it seems to be an older one, with NO xorg 1.16 support (at least officially) and it is probably slower for CS:GO than the one in the Catalyst repo, so please... don't update. I need my smooth CS:GO performance. :-)

It's fresh stable release, so after testing I will move it to [catalyst-stable] repo (and stable AUR). [catalyst] will stay untouched.
I will be back in Friday, then I will test it.
Edit: done, stable aur and repo is up to date, archive repo is called [catalyst-stable-14.4]

Hi,
my sound over HDMI is terrible. I use a r290x with the Catalyst 14.9 and alsa (no pulse-audio). Is this a known bug? Is there a solution?

I don't know about the R290X, but sound through HDMI has been non-existent for me since Catalyst 13.2 on my AMD Radeon 6480G (so I consider it broken).

Is there a way to fix KDE Catalyst power management problem?
Its impossible for KDE power management to switch off after defined period of time.
Any clues?

A conflict between mesa-dri and catalyst-total-hd234k. It suggest to remove catalyst.
I check the AUR package website and another user (MCMic) had the same problem but he doesn't say anything about how he fixed it.
Any help?

I was afraid to go ahead and upgrade when I saw this, but then I got an email from the [arch-announce] list (https://www.archlinux.org/news/mesa-updated-to-1030/) and assumed that this package replacement was expected. Haven't had any problems so far!
EDIT:: I'm using the [catalyst] repository, unlike you. On the other hand, I'm not sure that makes any difference.
