Hi all
im new to arch and ive run into some problems already. Ive got my system setup to autoload into gdm from there i log into xfce4. Now gdm seems broken, whenever i try and run gdmsetup it says theres a problem with libglade and the command output says the libglade file is on "crack" so i thought id give recompiling gdm ago, so i followed the how to in this forum in setting up abs and off i went.
This is where i ran into problems gcc kicked out with the following from gdm
checking for gtk+-2.0 >= 1.3.1 libgnomeui-2.0 >= 1.96.0 libglade-2.0 >= 1.99.2... Package libgnome-2.0 was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `libgnome-2.0.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
Package 'libgnome-2.0', required by 'libgnomeui', not found
configure: error: Library requirements (gtk+-2.0 >= 1.3.1 libgnomeui-2.0 >= 1.96.0 libglade-2.0 >= 1.99.2) not met; consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if your libraries are in a nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find them.
make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.
==> ERROR: Build Failed. Aborting...
so i went to libgnome and did makepkg but same but about gnome-vfs so i tried makepkg for that, that kicked out about gconf and finally that kicked out about ORbit. So i did makepkg, that was a success, i pacman -A that and then went back to gconf. Still says it cant find Orbit. Ive dont a locate <libfile> and the libs do exist there all in /opt/gnome/lib but how do i get the rest of the system to see them there?
i know its going to be something really simple i just cant figure it out
Thanks for any replies
makepkg cannont find gnome.sh either

my guess is that you became superuser then tryed to compile.
su - or source /etc/profile will fixs this.
About the gnome.sh it is a part of gnome 1.4

no submit a bug report it is not kosher to have packages that already exist in the repos in incoming even if they are fixes.
