Upgrading mesa with Catalyst drivers installed

With the recent changed to the mesa drivers (the drivers have been combined into one package called "mesa-dri"), "mesa-dri" is now a dependency of the "mesa" package. This is a problem for me because I do not want the mesa drivers since I am using the Catalyst proprietary drivers. I cannot simply remove the "mesa" package either because it is a dependency for some other packages on my system that I need. I am using the Catalyst drivers from the unofficial repo. Here is the output when I try to upgrade:

:: Synchronizing package databases...
 xorg112 is up to date
 catalyst-hd234k is up to date
 core is up to date
 extra is up to date
 community is up to date
 multilib is up to date
:: Starting full system upgrade...
resolving dependencies...
looking for inter-conflicts...
:: lib32-mesa-dri and lib32-catalyst-utils are in conflict (lib32-ati-dri). Remove lib32-catalyst-utils? [y/N]

Is there a way to resolve this conflict while keeping both "lib32-mesa" and "lib32-catalyst-utils"?

Re: Upgrading mesa with Catalyst drivers installed

complain to the catalyst maintainer, there's no actual conflict, it's just incorrectly listed as one.

I am seeing this also. For now I have postponed the upgrade. Presumably the unofficial repo will resolve the conflict. I have subscribed to this thread in case there is a posted work-around for the OPs question.

Re: Upgrading mesa with Catalyst drivers installed

I had no issues with the catalyst-test package when the upgrades came through.

I see that this is [catalyst-hd234k] repository we're talking about here, and not the main [catalyst]. I recommend pointing this out to the Catalyst maintainer, mentioning the [catalyst-hd234k] repository.

Re: Upgrading mesa with Catalyst drivers installed

I see from the wiki that the maintainer of the Catalyst unofficial repositories is Vi0L0. How do I go about contacting him about this issue?

You can contact him directly at the website of the AUR package. I already did and I'm waiting for his answer (I'm using the catalyst-total-hd234k package).
