[SOLVED] cant upgrade because "mesa-dri and intel-dri are in conflict"

When I type
Pacman -Syu
I get
Replace intel-dri with extra/mesa-dri? [Y/n]
I answer n
mesa-dri and intel-dri are in conflict. Remove intel-dri? [y/N]
I answer N

then I get

error: unresolvable package conflicts detected
error: failed to prepare transaction (conflicting dependencies)
:: mesa-dri and intel-dri are in conflict

I dont want to replace intel-dri with mesa so What do I do?
If I type
pacman -Qs -- -dri
The print out is

local/intel-dri 10.2.8-1
    Mesa drivers for Intel
local/libva-intel-driver 1.3.2-1
VA-API implementation for Intel G45 and HD Graphics family
local/menumaker 0.99.7-9
Heuristics-driven menu generator for Deskmenu, FluxBox, IceWM, OpenBox, WindowMaker and XFCE
local/xf86-input-evdev 2.9.0-2 (xorg-drivers xorg)
    X.org evdev input driver
local/xf86-input-keyboard 1.8.0-3 (xorg-drivers xorg)
    X.Org keyboard input driver
local/xf86-input-mouse 1.9.1-1 (xorg-drivers xorg)
    X.org mouse input driver
local/xf86-input-synaptics 1.8.1-1 (xorg-drivers xorg)
    Synaptics driver for notebook touchpads
local/xf86-video-intel 2.99.916-2 (xorg-drivers xorg)
    X.org Intel i810/i830/i915/945G/G965+ video drivers

so it looks like I already have mesa dirvers installed - so maybe I should go ahead and answer YES as I am worrying over nothing?

Re: [SOLVED] cant upgrade because "mesa-dri and intel-dri are in conflict"

mesa-dri is a new package that replaces ati-dri, intel-dri, nouveau-dri & svga-dri.

Check the "latest news" on archlinux home page .

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

I have the same issue but using the catalyst-total-hd234k package from AUR. Should I say yes to remove also this package?
I'm waiting for an answer from the maintainer of the catalyst package.

doblerone, could you post the exact error pacman gives ?

also please post lspci output, so we can see if you have both an intel & ATI card in your system ?

Re: [SOLVED] cant upgrade because "mesa-dri and intel-dri are in conflict"

The error pacman gives me when I try to update my system is:

mesa-dri and catalyst-total-hd234k are in conflict. Remove catalyst-total-hd234k? [y/N]

I asked the maintainer of that package what should I do.

On the other hand, on that computer I only have a HD4770 Radeon graphic card.

Please do not hijack threads. This is a totally different issue and already has it's own thread.
