Samsung SSDs Firmware update

I'm looking into how best to update the firmware on my SSD drives, both from Samsung - however Samsung only provides a Windows utility for firmware update. I've come across this guide that supposedly finds a solution thorugh the .isos, and by using a live FreeDOS install on a USB stick.

Has anyone tried this approach or is there a simpler way to do it?

Windows PE is an other option.
