DELL 'FN' Funtions

I got me a DELL laptop, under a yera old, but its got a wee blue FN button that you can hold then press page-up page-down etc to up/down the volume.

Theres contrast and brightness that works ok with this button, but alot of the blue text dont run.

Anyone else got this weird button working?

Re: DELL 'FN' Funtions

I use lineak to handle the up/down/off sound buttons on my DELL laptop.
I can use both specific buttons or Fn+pageup/down

is there a typical config script or do you setup by holding the keys and saying 'thats volume up!'?

Re: DELL 'FN' Funtions

There are two config files

One for the description of the special keys for most of the known laptop.
If your don't find yours, follow the instructions in this page to find the codes of your special keys.

And one in/etc (lineakd.conf or something similar) where you just have to select the type of keyboard (according to the preceding file) you have.
