[SOLVED] Updated before I saw last warning? What should I do now?

I did an update with  `pacman -Syu` before I checked my mailbox. Then I opened it and I saw the following:

To circumvent a conflicting files issue, manual intervention is required **only
if package `java-common` is installed**. This can be checked with the following
command:

    $ pacman -Q java-common

    java-common ...

If so, please run the following **prior** to upgrading:

    # archlinux-java unset

    # pacman -Sydd --asdeps java-runtime-common

    :: java-runtime-common and java-common are in conflict. Remove java-common?
[y/N] y

    # archlinux-java fix

You can then go ahead and upgrade:

    # pacman -Su

Too late for me... :S

Any recommended actions now? I see that java-common in my case is installed as
a dependency of jre7-openjdk-headless. Should I reinstall the latter?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Just follow the directions in the news item.

If the update completed without issue, then the news item did not apply to you.  If it did apply to you the update would not have completed and now you can just follow the instructions.

I wasn't that smart. I did a --force before checking the news. can I expect any problem?

That did the job, I hadn't had a problem upgrading in the first place. Thanks!

If the original update went through, then it's likely your mirrors hadn't synced yet.

Doesn't -Syu do exactly that? I'm confused :S

Or you mean the mirrors synced with the official ones?

The latter.  Syu syncs your database to your selected mirrors (in mirrorlist file) but those mirrors only periodically sync to the official repo servers.

Re: [SOLVED] Updated before I saw last warning? What should I do now?

I did the same thing - except my update simply failed to complete.  Despite the general advice, I don't check the news before updating.  But if anything goes wrong or looks the slightest bit suspicious in an update, I check the news before I do anything else.  Despite my best efforts, it is quite hard to actually break anything in arch (Allan is slacking off).

About the only way to break something is to see something odd in an update, and instead of checking the news or forums, just opting to use "--force" for no reason.  So, for capoeria, I have no idea what you have broken or how serious of an issue it will be.  I don't know enough about how java works.

just to explain. I followed the general recomendadation for this kind of error. I just didn't expect this to happen as something "normal", so i didn't check the news.....but yes, always check the news....my error

Rather than just empty bumping by quoting ourselves, you should probably start a new thread indicating what you did to seek help from those who might know the answer.  As this thread is solved, I doubt it will get much attention.

I will do this in case I face any problem
