Xfce - No keyboard layout switching

Today the keyboard layout plugin stopped working.

The other layout (I use  us-gr) is properly shown in the plugins properties, but clicking on the flag icon does not change the layouts.

The two layouts are also properly appearing in menu> settings> keyboard> layout tab and the /home/.../.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/keyboard-layout.xml.

Trying the command line

  setxkbmap gr

gives

 Error loading new keyboard description

Any ideas will be welcome.

Re: Xfce - No keyboard layout switching

Maybe I should mention that the locales are also set.
Am I the only one dealing with this problem?

Re: Xfce - No keyboard layout switching

After using Arch for a few hours I get the same error "Error loading new keyboard description" every time I open a new urxvt terminal or writing "setxkbmap en".

In /etc/locale.gen I have uncommented the UTF-8 entrys for en_US and sv_SE.

"/etc/locale.conf" contains LANG=en_US.UTF-8

I'm using arch, lxdm, i3, urxvt

A solution for me is to just restart X or as I did today, write "locale-gen" not as sudo user and i3 (or maybe was X) crashed. Then I don't get the error when opening a new terminal since the once set is "se" which I'm trying to set it to in ~/.bashrc
