Hello,
I'm trying to install Arch on ACER ASPIRE ES1-511-C3KV, using BIOS in UEFI mode (gpt partitions). The installation process usually hangs at the very beginning, returning a message about "invalid resources" when loading something related to the kernel. At that point it freezes, giving the impression that it's attempting to restart (judging by the sound of the fan) --until I eventually restart it myself. Given that I usually keep rebooting, it will eventually boot successfully, only to (attempt to) reboot at some later point (while I'm creating the mount points or the base system is being installed).
For what it's worth, I've managed to install the system a couple of days ago, using mbr partitions instead of gpt (I got a couple of "invalid resources" then too, but at least everything ran smoothly once it booted successfully). After the system was installed though, it was impossible to reboot or even shut down properly --until I installed the lts-kernel.
I read that there is some kernel bug causing those reboot problems, could the boot problems be also related to the kernel? If so, is there some way to use the lts-kernel during the installation process or any other workaround?

You'll need to get the actual error message in order for anyone to be able to make anything of this.

You are right, it's "Started udev Kernel Device Manager. 12.696904 dw_dmac INTL9C60:00: Invalid Resource".
I don't know if this can help but I'm just noticing that, if the laptop is not connected to the Internet (wired connection), the boot process is almost always successful. However, it will still find it hard to continue the installation or reboot..

I had installed Arch on Acer Extensa 2509 last week. 3.16.4-1 kernel shows dw_dmac error at boot. The boot then stops at that error or keeps to login screen.
Here is the error message.
kernel: dw_dmac INTL9C60:00: invalid resource
When the boot does not stops these messages are after error.
kernel: dw_dmac: probe of INTL9C60:00 failed with error -22
kernel: dw_dmac INTL9C60:01: DesignWare DMA Controller, 8 channels
And that is the other error after them. It seems about clickpad, but clickpad works.
kernel: i2c_hid i2c-SYN1B7E:01: failed to retrieve report from device.
Also any way to shutdown with that kernel hangs system at "Shutting down" message and reboot hangs at blank screen. Only holding laptop power button turns the power off. Same issue with any of these kernel parameters: acpi=force, acpi=off, reboot=efi, reboot=force.
Syslinux can not turn the power off or reboot. It shows some message about APM and then boots the kernel. Can it be that the laptop does not support APM? Grub halt do not turns the power off.
I had installed 3.14.21-1-lts kernel and it boots with no errors and sootdown/reboot works. Now i plan to wait for next kernel to see if the error goes away. Any other ideas? Shoud i report the bug?

You can get older Arch iso from ftp servers that listed on the downloads page. Go to the page, choose ftp server and on that server go up one direcory. That is not lts. See the releases page for kernel versions.

Thank you very much for your response, didn't know about the second link. The best idea I had was to look for older torrents --but I eventually installed the BIOS version anyway, just to be sure. I'll keep it in mind for the next time that something like that occurs though..

Hiya, I've actually just purchased the same laptop myself and am receiving the same error message as OP here while I was using the latest ISO.
I'm wondering if anybody can cast any further light on this, since the older releases referred to in this thread are probably no longer available.
I'm aware that this seems to be a hardware problem, but that's all I can gather. Hope you can help - perhaps the best solution is to use legacy instead of UEFI?

I still use 3.14.21-1-lts kernel, with GPT and legacy bios. I had installed latest kernel today and system hangs at boot with it.
